Pembrokeshire, West Wales

Providing high quality accommodation
in rural Pembrokeshire for over twenty five years

The "Wheelie Good Idea"

The Wheelie Good Idea uses old and unwanted independent living aids and mobility equipment which we collect, refurbish and export to Africa.

Our first shipping container is heading off to Durban, South Africa any day now where Container Missionaries will distribute to nine separate organisations.

This connection was made with the support of Cassy Healey, an old friend of Clynfyw who works with the Unlimited Child, supporting 26,000 children. (

Much of the equipment comes from personal donations—equipment that is no longer needed. We are also most grateful to Patterson’s Medical Supplies and Pembrokeshire County Council’s Shapes Stores for their continuing support.

We are keen to work with other like minded organisations on this project. We are taking with Disability in Wales and Africa, ResponsAble Assistance, Value Independence and other groups about how this project can grow to achieve its full potential.

We are grateful to Dylan Thomas Crane Hire, Boncath for help with moving the container on and off the articulated lorry and many others too.

The project is currently funded by sales of our apple juice and mugs, fundrasing events, small grants and kind donations from supporters. We are most grateful for everyones help in raising funds as well fixing kit and loading the container. It continues to be a magnificient team effort.

Our new flyers and banner were funded by Collaborative Communities, for which we are also most grateful.

We chose our logo following an open competition. The winner was, Joshua Weatherburn! Below is a little information about Joshua.

"My name is Joshua Weatherburn. I am an independent character illustrator, living in the Preseli hills in Pembrokeshire. The main focus of my work is character design. I have a particular interest in the natural environment (recycling and re-using, and conserving the earth's resources, and saving energy).

At the moment I am developing a character called Bullseye the Cat. My character has Asperger's Syndrome, and I aim to use him to explain certain traits of the learning disorder to non-disabled people.

I am very please to have won the logo completion for the 'Wheelie Good Idea' campaign, because I have gained the opportunity to show an example of my work to other people, whilst also supporting something I feel passionate about."

If you have any kit that needs a good home, please let us know.

This project is funded by our community apple jucing initative. If you have trees and would like the apples juiced, or if you like to drink good quality apple juice, please let us know!
